Europe: the Stockholm Syndrome
Three years after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon Europe experienced its own September 11. Spain has learned, at its own expense, that the main threat to the democracies is, from now on, Islamist totalitarianism. Despite this real electric shock, a number of experts on Islam continue to nod in agreement that Islamo-terrorism is nothing else but a reaction to the American-Zionist imperialism and that it does not strike anyone except the Westerners supporting Sharon, Bush and their Muslim lackeys. The attacks which occurred in Morocco in May 2003 and in Turkey in November 2003 have been the proof that even in the countries ruled by Islamic parties and opposed to the United States like the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the war in Irak can be targeted. The Madrid tragedy has enabled us to see to what extent a mass of foolhardy Europeans is struck by the Stockholm syndrome. It is a sickness which reached the point if absurdity when, on the 22 of March, the European Ministries of Justice - with Monsieur de Villepin at their head - condemned the assassination by the Tsahal of the spiritual chief of Hamas, Sheikh Yassin who was, at the same time, one of the most formidable sponsors of the Green Terror and, and therefore, one of the people responsible for the degradation of the situation in the Middle East.
The same Stockholm syndrome encouraged the media to repeat that the Madrid tragedy was the price to pay for the support given to George Bush in Irak. Yet the Iberian peninsula had become the crucial crossroads for the Islamo-terrorists well before the March 11. And because the government of Jose Maria Aznar and Judge Baltazar Garzon had been acting to put an end to it since 2001, al Qaeda broke the truce with Spain to make it close its eyes on the Islamist activities just like Great Britain and Belgium have been doing it. Let's recall that barely fifteen days after the attacks of September 11 in 2001 a cell of Salafist Group for Preaching and Fight (SGPF) of Hassan Khatab had been dismantled between Murcie, Almeria and Huelva. In June 2001 one of the right hand men of Ossama Ben Laden in Europe Mohammed Bensakhria had been arrested in Alicante. The Judge Garzon had revealed the involvement of the presumed head of the Al Qaeda in Spain, the Syrian and naturalized Spaniard Abu Dahdah in the organization of the anti-American attacks as well as in the creation of the network in Spain from the 1994 onwards. The Dahdah network used to recruit the Mujahadeen and sent them to the Afghan camps from the mosques on the Iberian peninsula, in particular from the same Saudi mosque Abu Bakr of Madrid where they had formed the group soldiers of Allah. In connection with Abu Ilyas in Germany and Abu Qatada in London (the representative of al Qaeda in Great Britain), Dahda met Ben Laden twice. None other but Mohammed Atta, the organizer of the September 11 attacks, went to Spain in July 2001 to meet there the leaders of SGPF. As for the main suspects of the March 11, Mohammed Shaoui and Jamal Zougam, they were known to the Judge Garzon. The police obtained the proof of the telephone conversations between Dahdah and Zougam and was aware of the links of Zougam with the rising star of the Al Qaeda, the Palestinian Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi and also with the Mullah Krekkar, the head of the Kurdish Ansar al Islam, who is catering since March 2003 for the Mujahadeen from all over the world volunteering for the war in Irak. In their open claims of responsibility the brigades of Abu Hafsa al Masri explain that the attacks of the March 11 were intended to settle the old account with the Spanish Crusader, allied with the United States in the war against Islam. It's a grudge that goes back to the overthrowing of the Caliphate of Grenada and the expulsion of the Muslims. Even if Andalusia remains profoundly Catholic it is not by accident that the majority of big Islamic organizations in Spain established themselves in there (Society for the Return of Spain to Islam, al-Moorabitoon, Islamic Society of Seville, Moorish Ligue of al-Andalusia). Thanks to the aid provided from the Muslim Brothers, from Qatar, from Iran, from Saudi Arabia (which controls the Islamic centre of Abu Bakr of Madrid) and from Pakistan (which finances the International Islamic University of Averroes in Cordoba) or from Morocco, all these structures established themselves all over Spain and they even established enclaves such as the Aibaicin in Grenada which have Koranic schools, publishing houses, cemeteries, clinics and journals (La Hora del Islam) at their disposal. In addition, the startegic points like Gibraltar, Ceuta and Melilla, Tetuan and Tanger (the Neapol of North Africa), from where originate the suspects of the attacks in Madrid, are the zones of trafficking supplying a recourse and resources to the terrorists. Spain has not been able to control these zones. Yet numerous other capitals of Europe have proved to be guilty of the same laxity in handling the Islamist threat since 2001. London remains the safest headquarters for the sergeants-recruiters of al Qaeda who enjoy total freedom of expression there. Openly pro-Al Qaeda organizations like Hizb-ut-Tahrir, al Mouwahidun, the network of mosques controlled by the deobandis (an ultra-fundamentalist Indo-Pakistani school similar to Taliban) or those of Group islamique arme (GIA), of Groupe salafiste pour la prediction et le combat and of Takwir wal Hijra continue to fanaticise, with complete freedom, the political refugees and even the new converts. In much the same way, David Myatt, the head of the branch of the English Nazi movement was recently received with honours by Mullah Omar Bakri Mohamed, one of the main vocal intermediaries of Al Qaeda in Europe. Scotland Yard and the Foreign Office justify their approach arguing that by allowing the Islamists to work they are able to gather information. It's a dubious and questionable strategy in view of the development of the network of Al Qaeda. -Italy seems to be the target designated by Islamists. It houses the capital of Catholicism. Even if it has had, since already a long time, the biggest Grand Mosque of Europe financed by Riyad. Silvio Berlusconi the head of the governement is strongly pro-American. He once gave vent to very politically incorrect remarks highlighting the superiority of the Western civilization. He also supports the Russian president in his war against the Chechens. But the region of Apulia in the south-east of the peninsula has been the crossroads of arms smuggling and illegal immigration controlled by the Albanian and Italian mafias. Italy also houses the Islamic Cultural Centre of del Viale Jenner (Milan), identified as one of the main bases of Al Qaeda in Europe. Until not so long ago the Centre was supported by the Gulf princes through an Islamic bank of Lugano, Al Taqwa, founded by the Egyptian-Italian billionaire Youssef Nada residing in Campione d'Italia. Nada is one of the leading figures of the Muslim brotherhood and a close friend of the Bin Laden family. His bank has in its possession branches in Malta and in the Bahamas which are used to manage the funds from Kuwait and the Emirates destined for the terrorist cells of Al Qaeda and for the Non-governmental Organization of Allah. - In Belgium, where the state subsidizes the religions and the priests, the Saudi Wahhabi organizations and the Muslim Brothers fight over the organization of Islam with the Turkish Islamist fraction (Milli Gorus). Belgium, considered to be one of the hideouts of AIG (Armed Islamic Group) in Europe served as the logistic back door for the international terrorism. The assassins of the commandant Massoud have, at their disposa,l Belgian passports and press passes. It is in Brussels that one of the lieutenants of Ben Laden, Mohammed Baadash, known as Abu Qassim, will set up a new European network of Al Qaeda which will send a hundred of young Belgians to the Afghan territories of Jihad. Soon after the 11 September the Belgian and the Dutch police will dismantle a branch of Al Qaeda possessing one hundred kilos of sulphur and 60 litres of acetone. - Stockholm is still the back door for the most extreme and constantly mutating Algerian Islamism and that's where the International Human Concern established itself. It is a Non-governmental Organization, created in London in 1992 by two militant Algerians Bounoua Boudjema and Kamreddine Kherbane. It serves as a screen for the activities of IAG and strives to ensure that the veterans of the Afghan war come back to Europe and Algeria to take part in terrorist acts. It is likewise from Sweden that the Islamo-Swedish Society (ISS) is holding sway - an ultra-radical organization operated by a political Islamist Moroccan refugee Ahmed Rami who is running one of the most important internet Revisionist websites of Europe Radio Islam with transmission in several languages. Germany also discovered, to its own dismay, after the September 11 that it had served as the logistic headquarters for the Saudi terrorists. Mohammed Atta and two of his death-bound companions Ziad Jarrah and Marwan al-Shehhi used Hamburg as the their port of call. Atta studied at the Technical University of Hamburg, the true capital of Salafism on the German territory. Links between that city and Wadih al Hage, a Lebanese Christian convert to Islamism condemned in May 2001 for the attacks against the American embassies in Dar as Salam and Nairobi in 1998 had been established. The federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schilly estimates that about a hundred Mujahadeens, trained in Afghanistan, are active in Germany. According to the German judicial police hundreds of Islamist militants grouped within the body of the network of sleepy cells of Takfir and of the Algerian SGPF, including also the Egyptian Gamaa, operate between Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Bonn. One realized it on the 4th of April 2002 at the time of the attack against the synagogue of Djerba in Tunisia where ten Germans were killed and which was organized by the French-German network of the Islamic Egyptian Jihad member of Al Qaeda. In December 2002 an Islamist commando preparing an attack against the cathedral in Strasbourg was dismantled in Frankfurt. The Turkish Islamist networks have also their representatives in Germany and the European Union in the Milli Gorus (an external structure of the Turkish Islamist movements in power in Ankara, AKP) and in the ultra-radical group called kaplanciwhich has its origins in the attempted attacks in October 1998 and in February 2002 aiming to destroy the mausoleum of Ataturk in Ankara. Also Hilafet Devleti (Califat) - an organization run by Metin Kaplan - is the result of the split which occurred in 1985 inside the Milli Gorus. Although this organization is tied to Teheran and to the pro-Al Qaeda Turkish terrorist movement the IBDA-C the perpetrator of the Istambul attacks in November 2003 it enjoys total freedom of action in Germany as the Supreme Court of the State revoked the order of expulsion passed against Kaplan. The least lax country seems to be France even if the recent trial concerning the Chechen branches and even if the official recognition of the Muslim Brothers (whose literature contains references to call on the assassination of the apostates, eg. Youssef al Qardawi: The Lawful and the Unlawful) within the French Council of the Muslim Religion, should be worrying. Not to forget the threats of Al Qaeda and of the Party of the Muslims of France of Mohammed Latreche supporting the veil. In view of the integration of Turkey into the Union whose date could be finally set from December 2004 there is cause for wondering about the good will of the European leaders and of Brussels to dismantle the power of the Turkish military in the name of the criteria worked out in Copenhague. The Kemalist army, the ultimate legacy of Ataturk, is the last defence in the face of Islamist control (moderate today, but tomorrow? ) over the country's institutions. Europe has continuously underestimated the Islamist threat within its body. The continuation of this attitude after the attacks of 11 September, has been given official recognition in Spain. The first reactions of the Ministries of Justice to this event do not indicate that our Union is ready to disown politics which, if it isn't exactly in the spirit of Munich Pact, it does nevertheless resemble it.
